Bits and Pieces .::. |
Tuesday, January 25, 2005 news.google Google is now in the process of indexing video content across few channels. So even as results show up, cannot view video files yet. Yahoo's is 'work in progress'. So for now Blinkx is the star (lots of channels). [TiVo territory violated] Google is also looking for "Dark Fiber", which refers to laid-but-not-in-use optic fiber cable. Right away, experts started voting for Google's foray into VoIP. Reason for the speculation was a recent Google Job Posting: "Google is looking for Strategic Negotiator candidates with experience in...(i)dentification, selection, and negotiation of dark fiber contracts both in metropolitan areas and over long distances as part of development of a global backbone network" Om Malik of GigaOm doesnt think so as he feels there is no way Google could make money out of it [makes sense], instead could just be an effort to boost its existing infrastructure. Recent hiring of Firefox' lead programmer Ben Goodger (his announcement) creates interest in GBrowser again. But then as one slashdotter observed, it could be just to better the integration between desktop search and an existing browser. Question still remains, why register gbrowser.com? posted by pradeep | Permalink | (3) 3 Comments:
And we get to talking about Google and their possible future projects again. They are lying on a huge pile of cash courtesy the bloating stock price. Wouldnt be surprised to hear some new stuff soon. By The Last Blogger, at 9:56 AM
