Pity "Star"

STAR: Listen, bitch! Don't get slick with the mouth! Don't you get slick with me, bitch!

STEENA: Now if you continue to speak this language, I will disconnect the call.

STAR: Listen to me, you dirty rat eater. I'll come out there and choke the eff out of you

That was a call made by a Radio Jockey (Power 99, Philly) to a female employee in India. [Complete transcript, audio clip and more from Turbanhead]

Blogger Edward Champion says, Star prides himself on being "the Hater" and his website notes that "he has the audacity to be unconstrained by neo-conservative intellectual influence."

People, dont just hate him. This is the time he needs love and care.
Tell you what "Hater", stay off the mike and take lots of rest. You'll be fine.

I'm sure that a lot of people would have had a 'good time' out of this, not just star and bucwild. this only shows that a lot of people are still damn racists.

Its pure hatred and really a lack of any relevant knowledge. See its one thing to scream because you know something is wrong. Then there is screaming cos you know nothing and need all the attention that "nothing" can possibly get you. So, Id just pass this. Yes, there are a gazillion racists in town, but then, no one cares a damn about a fool like this.

Those were racist remarks indeed.

There are many out there, who DONT realize that such remarks are NOT ok. And if you dont make it known, it's going to continue.

That we definitely should. Passiveness against such crap is not good. But using this as a generalization wont work either.

'generalization'?
Dont get you.

I did see in a lot of Indian discussion boards attributing this instance to a bigger issue or large scale racism against asians in the US which while an issue isnt as big as it was made to be.
This instance highlights the fact that there is indeed improper perceptions of the Indians but does not mean or reflect the entire American population's perception as a whole.

I concur..this is not the view/opinion shared (atleast publicly) by the considerable majority of the populace. But nevertheless, a sad reflection on the state of what currently passes off as entertainment.

How far off is this in terms of insensitivity to a human being, as say the case of the bastard-extraordinaire Beau Duran, the ex-DJ of 98-KUPD (Phoenix) fame, who in 2002 called up the widow of a St. Louis Cardinals pitcher just hours before a game and asked her if she had a date. She'd been widowed just a couple months ago at that time.

Well, I guess we ARE surrounded by jerks everywhere...

Guys, majority being the good souls that a few punks arent, was never in question. Everyone reacts to situations such as the one we saw here. As long it is dignified, we are fine.

Daph, thanks for pointing to another weirdo! :)

If a pixel were to see and interpret things as I do, and should it express, with a dose of my thoughts and afterthoughts; the flavor of such a talk should be close to one that you find on this page. And yes, cricket being my favorite sport, dont be surprised to find one too many related terms. Pad up is one such!
