Bala points to a blog entry by Chakra Yadavalli, that doubts Google's claim for innovation. Product in question is, Google Maps, that shares features with an earlier-released Swiss Map search. I have no clue about the Javascript similarities, but if "draggable map" alone is a pointer, think we have too little to conclude. Keyhole, that Google purchased, had infact draggable results. So inspiration could have been from within.

On a different note, efforts to develop sub-$100 laptops targeting school kids was also pointed to by the same blogger. This is exciting news.

I kinda have started thinking we are focussing so much on IT that focus on non-IT based infra is getting to be lesser and lesser. Is this good ?

Dont you think, it only seems so.

Influence of IT is immediate and hence noticeable. Do you have any particular instance in mind?
