While this is from HCL, there's another company (Xenitis) that has a similar low-cost offering @ Rs. 9,790.

Good start esp on the Open Source choice.

Simputer started the Open Source trend, actually.

They did. But Simputer has never gained the traction it was expected to. A pioneering effort that has languished without proper mass support.
